This animation
was created as part of the "Artifacts Away" project set by OneDotZero.
The brief asked the student to pick an artifact from the V&A Museum
and create a Motion/Screen Design response that communicated something
about the artifact.
The artifact
I chose was the Model of the HSBC Building in Hong Kong that was built
by the Kandor Model Makers. After research into the both the model in
situe and the looking at the actual mechanism of modern banking, the
idea of the oppressive overbearing bank almost mimicking the Communist
mechanism of a single state controlled economy became the concept.
This is
my first animation piece and my maiden voyage into the world of Screen
Design. I used both 2D and 3D graphics to try and give a contemporary
twist to the Communist Constructivist style. This project has been a
learning process in all respects as well as a door into a previously
un-explored discipline.
