Tronic @ Blackfriars - 10pm till 3am
Tickets available @ www.SECxtra.com
With the summer festival season in full flow, Tronic is
getting in on the action by presenting five artists- headlined by one
of the most innovative and prolific producers of the last few years,
Vector Lovers Now based in Berlin, (the proverbial home
of electronic and techno) Vector Lovers makes a welcome return to Glasgow
at Tronic for a set of twisted electro, wired with his beautifully crafted
futuristic beats and melodies. A style that's warm in texture and cold
in its synthetic complexity, weaving loops, samples and broken beats,
Vector Lovers has mastered the sound of modern day electronica.
Mr Wheeler has been one of the prodigal sons of Soma for a number of years
now, with two album releases to date under the Glasgow label. After his
debut EP release 'Roboto Ashido Funk' on 'Iwari' raised more than a few
eyebrows, it soon swept through clubs up and down the country after being
re-released by Soma in 2003. This was quickly followed up by his self
titled debut album 'Vector Lovers' in 2004 and 'Capsule For One' a year
later- which was dubbed one finest cuts of electronic of recent times.
All this you may well know already- and those who are admirers will be
aware of his new album release 'Afterglow,' is due out on Soma at the
end of August. So you can expect new material to be played out at Tronic-
set to be a stellar night of quality sounds taking you on a journey into
a futuristic warped Metropolis.

Engineer
of robotic sounds and minimal electro, Robokid has been
producing music for around eight years, with gigs being some what of a
rarity. This will be the producers' first live outing in Glasgow; where
he will be showcasing new material mechanically masterminded over the
last few months in his York based studio. Proudly sitting alongside Vector
Lovers on the internationally renowned label 'Iwari', Robokid will start
proceedings superbly with his synthetic grooves and digital beats, sure
to stir much robot love.

Engine
7
orchestrates magical music compositions.
…This has to be said and his live set has to be seen! Engine 7's
last showing at Tronic was an incredibly impressive display of IDM (intelligent
dance music) and post rock- (a style sweeping through Scotland right now,
with Engine 7 at the forefront). Using two guest vocalists and a bass
player, his last Tronic appearance made for a dynamic emotionally charged
set that took the crowd into the palm of his hand. As a musician he really
does have a great grasp of musical structure and melody, as well as a
completely fresh original sound. Recently being snapped up by 'Herb Recordings'
and his debut album imminent- Engine 7 is about to be seen and heard.

Over the
last few years, Espion has already established himself
as one of the best and well known producers in Glasgow, with releases
under Orson Records and Soma. As a DJ, he is also one of the hidden henchmen
behind one of Glasgow's finest club nights, 'Camouflage' at The Soundhaus.
Espion's sound is a mix of dark Techno and Ambient IDM and as an electronic
artist he is constantly experimenting and re-inventing himself, and always
staying ahead of the game. Alongside his work as Espion, other side projects
include 'Error Response'- an initiative designed to produce music for
TV, film and computer games. He also runs a web based electronic dance
music community in 'Hyperoctave', putting himself and like minded folk
onto the Scottish Electronic map. The website also serves as a hub for
electronic artists to discuss topics such as production on music and post
gig blurbs and anything else in the technological world. All this means
that Espion is one of the hardest working artists, producers and DJs we've
come across, constantly into new innovative projects, delving into the
music of tomorrow. Here at Tronic we know that this is an artist not to
be missed live and his set on the night will be geared towards the more
dark ambient side of electro. On before Vector Lovers take over the controls,
we are in for an audio treat.

Tronic man
Kerwin is known as one of the new hot-shot up and coming
Glasgow producers and we at Tronic have been heaping praise his way for
quite a while now. With his mix of Progressive breaks, IDM and Electro,
he is producing some of the freshest sounds around. Sean is no stranger
to Tronic, having played the very first night we held and then at last
years summer special at The Brunswick. With a tidy slot again at this
year's Wickerman Festival, we welcome this laptop maestro back for more
electro big beat mayhem, making July being a lively month for Kerwin.
Along side his studio work and live appearances, Sean has been busy with
involvement of the recent cheeky internet phenomenon 'The Wee Man' and
the crazily successful single 'Here You (that'll be right)'. Being a regular
DJ now for Tronic, with a recent slot supporting christ on his album launch
party at Bar Miso, Sean Kerwin is an artist that is taking the electronic
community by storm and we predict great things for him in the not-too
distant future…
