scrape[dx] defined
scrape[dx] is a high performance combat evolved audio system primarily designed for urban industrial applications. Encompassing the latest technology in computer based audio weaponry; scrape[dx] offers the operator a superior tactical advantage on the battlefield in all theatres of war. characterized by adaptive and dynamic attack revisions, scrape[dx] offers the operator the ability to neutralize the opposition with unmatched merciless protraction.

scrape[dx] industrial consumer products are deployed via hands productions based in germany and designed in Connecticut in the united states by its creator Joshua Colella.

personal statement
scrape[dx] is a concept and personal ideology that I use to create my distinct style of aggressive electronic music. I use scrape[dx] to describe how I design the music logistically and present the aesthetic of the audio to consumers. scrape[dx], from my point of view, is a set of guidelines, a point of focus and an approach to creation and composition (in this case, music). It is my intention that scrape[dx] is to be viewed as an engineered industrial product, a complex, high-performance technology that is tangible audibly. Aesthetically, scrape[dx] represents (and is a reaction to) my fascination with the human interaction with and creation of technology (notably military technology; be it science fact or fiction) and the use of technology to shape a collective existence.

My sound style has been described as a mix of industrial hardcore, hard techno, breakcore, intelligent dance music and rhythmic noise and I embrace these styles as a fan and avid consumer of producers of these genres. scrape[dx] has been characterized by its complex and evolving rhythmic sequences, fluid atmospheric sound beds, political sampling and successful referencing and mixing of multiple subgenres of aggressive electronic music. my roots in music originate from my participation (simply as a spectator) in the d.i.y. punk and hardcore scene that existed (and still exists) in connecicut and my approach to creating and maintaining this project stem from these experiences. Additionally, I rely heavily on my engineering and IT background during the composition process and I credit this engineering knowledge to shaping the overall sound and production though a logical, methodic and measured workflow.
