Hyperoctave : Artist : Deemond
I suppose I have my parents to thank for my creativity with electronic stuff. My dad has always been an electronics enthusiast and my mum worked in Edinburgh's first computer retail store which kind of gave me an edge.
At the age of six (1982) I made my first bit of music on an Atari computer. Everyone thought I was destined to be a computer genius! At nine years old I started messing around with keyboards and got my fist guitar at ten, nothing much was achieved though.. yet.

When I turned eleven my dad got the first Atari ST in the UK and a Casio CZ-101. This was my first go at using Midi and creating sounds, it kept me occupied until I turned fourteen. Then things turned around a bit!

I was starting to get better at guitar and eventually played my first gig at sixteen. Guitar, Bands and recording on my Tascam 4-track would keep me busy until I turned twenty one. Then I started to regress back to electronic sounds and realised the potential of computers again!

It became apparent I didnt need a band to make whole tunes sound good any more! Working on this for years I found a problem, How was I going to play this stuff out? I wasnt going to mix CD's, I also didnt fancy carting silly amounts of gear around either.

Then came the advent of Final Scratch! It was exactly what I needed. Getting one of the first batch that came to the UK I set to work. This paved the way!

I have been developing a special show that is like playing live AND a DJ set. I make battle records for scratching and sample records to use a deck like an instrument. Using my knowledge of musical theory I produce my tracks to complement each other like tea and biscuits.

Special nights I have played as Dee Mond -
Foozle - Freq Nasty, Bentley Rythym Ace, Adam Freeland, The Lawgivers
Urban-Niche - Atomic Hooligan
Guest sets at Club Dogma, React and the infamous Ratho Raves
